WASHINGTON (March 25, 2002)—Shipments of tread rubber used to produce retreaded tires will increase in 2002, said the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), which expects the trend to continue through 2007.
Shipments this year will see a 2.2-percent increase over last year, according to the Tread Rubber Market Analysis Committee. That represents 306,000 additional retreaded tires. Growth in tread rubber shipments from 2002 to 2007 will average 1.8 percent per year, the committee said.
