DEARBORN, Mich. (March 11, 2002)—Goodyear's Wrangler MT/R off-road tire has won the Automotive News PACE product innovation award.
PACE (Premier Automotive Contributions to Excellence) Awards honor automotive industry suppliers and original equipment manufacturers “who have embraced innovation or adapted and reinvented themselves to keep abreast of the constantly rising performance bar of the OEM customer,” award officials said.
According to PACE judges, Goodyear's compound and materials give the Wrangler MT/R better ability to brush off sidewall cuts and punctures.
“This award honors the significant contributions of the Wrangler MT/R team and reflects on all of our technical associates,” said Steve Myers, Goodyear marketing manager for light truck tires.
The Wrangler MT/R is produced at Goodyear's Fayetteville, N.C. plant. It is approved for the civilian Hummer vehicle and is standard equipment on the 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
