GENEVA, Switzerland (March 11, 2002)—Tokyo-based Fujikura Ltd. will supply Goodyear with sensor microchips for its low-pressure warning systems, the tire maker announced. The chips will be used in tire pressure monitoring systems being developed by Goodyear and Siemens VDO Automotive Corp.
Fujikura deals in optical transmission, network and power systems, electronics materials, coated wires, magnet wires, electronic materials for equipment and metallic materials.
Goodyear and Siemens announced last fall they would develop and market a system to alert drivers of low tire air pressure and excessive tire temperatures.
