Group Michelin's PAX run-flat tire/wheel system has become a standard feature on top-of-the-line Fairway and Sport Way versions of the Renault Scenic sold in France.
Renault S.A., the first car maker to offer the PAX system as a standard fitment, forecasts that these two models could represent 40 percent of Scenic sales in France, Michelin said. This is equivalent to about 35,000 of these vehicles a year, it estimated. The French car firm began marketing the first PAX-equipped Scenics as an option four months ago.
The tire/wheel system, which is designed to run at zero pressure for 120 miles at 50 mph, is available as an option on Scenics sold in the rest of Europe.
