Del-Nat names Wisdom vp, CFO
MEMPHIS Tenn.-Del-Nat Tire Corp. has appointed Deron G. Wisdom to vice president and chief financial officer.
Mr. Wisdom comes to Del-Nat from the National Bank of Commerce where he had extensive experience in credit analysis, national account management, cash management, credit underwriting and asset lending.
Del-Nat President Dan Hunter said Mr. Wisdom will provide the private brand marketer expertise and knowledge for its growth plans.
QDS acquires Open Road Tech.
BOISE, Idaho-Quality Design Systems Inc. (QDS), which provides business information for the tire and automotive service industries, has acquired the operations of Open Road Technologies Inc., which develops high-performance information management systems.
Open Road markets its RoadWare retread shop management system, which is used by more than 240 retreaders in the U.S. and Canada including four of the top five retreading companies in North America, Boise-based QDS said.
The purchase ``not only provides QDS with a proven business management tool to offer commercial tire customers, but has tremendous synergy in terms of future integration with point-of-sale and accounting software modules,'' QDS President Ed Engel said. QDS is a subsidiary of Bandag Inc.
BFS introduces several HP tires
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Bridgestone/Firestone has introduced several performance tires for its Lemans and Road King lines.
The Lemans SR all-season performance tire has a wide-groove design for improved wet and snow performance, BFS said, and a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.
It is available in 21 sizes, including nine 70-series sizes, from P185/70R14 87S to P255/70R15 108S; one 65 series, P215/65R15 95S; 10 60-series sizes from P185/60R14 82T to P275/60R15 107S; and P205/55R16 89T.
The Road King Intimidator SR is an entry-level S- and T-speed-rated performance tire. Its wide-groove tread design reduces hydroplaning and improves wet traction, BFS said. The tire has a 55,000-mile limited treadwear warranty and a 100-percent free replacement limited warranty.
It is available in 21 sizes-nine 70-series sizes, from P185/70R14 87S to P255/70R15 108S; one 65 series, P215/65R15 95S; 10 60-series sizes from P185/60R14 82S to P275/60R15 107S; P205/55R16 89T in the 55 series).
Cooper recalls 3,368 tires
WASHINGTON-Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling a total of 3,368 Cooper Discovery A/T tires in two separate actions.
Some 484 Discovery A/T tires made between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1, 2001, are being recalled for possible pinholes in the upper sidewall on the DOT serial number side. Another 2,884 tires are being recalled for possible inner-liner tears caused during ejection from the mold after curing, the company said.
BMW recalls cars for tire damage
WASHINGTON-BMW A.G. has recalled 1,318 BMW Series 5 cars manufactured in September and October 2001.
The cars, equipped with Continental ContiTouring CH95 EcoPlus tires, size 225/65R16 95H, may have suffered tire damage by being cut with a sharp edge during factory mounting. BMW dealers will inspect the tires and replace all damaged ones.
Cooper taps truck tire manager
FINDLAY, Ohio-Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named William C. Dusseau as its commercial truck tire development manager. He will be responsible for leading, planning and organizing the daily and long-term activities of the development group.
Cooper said Mr. Dusseau will work with manufacturing to improve products and introduce products, as well as with the marketing group and customers to identify areas for new products. He joined Cooper in 1992. His most recent position was senior product development manager.
