LOUSVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 4, 2002)—The International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) Foundation Inc. will conduct two one-day Commercial Tire Service (CTS) technician training and certification seminars March 20-21 in the Birmingham, Ala., area.
The Alabama Tire Dealers Association is working with ITRA to encourage area tire technicians to participate. The sessions are part of a year-long training series ITRA is conducting throughout the country.
ITRA has trained and certified more than 6,100 technicians since the CTS program's 1996 inception, ITRA said.
The first CTS seminars took place in Akron in January. The second series will be held Feb. 20-21 outside of Chicago. Similar seminars will be conducted throughout the year. The ITRA Foundation will work with sate associations in respective areas to encourage participation.
ITRA President Tom Raben reported that 32 students participated in the Akron sessions, and credited the Northeast Ohio Tire Dealers, Ohio Tire Dealers, Western Pennsylvania Tire Dealers and Ohio Transportation Association with getting them there.
