La. dealers plan Baton Rouge show
DENHAM SPRINGS, La.-The Louisiana Independent Tire Dealers Association will hold its annual trade show and convention Feb. 28-March 2 at the Sheraton Baton Rouge Convention Center Hotel in Baton Rouge, La.
The convention will feature a golf tournament sponsored by Goodyear at the Pelican Point Golf Club in Gonzales, La., as well as evening receptions sponsored by Goodyear and Michelin North America Inc.
Tire Business columnist Dan Marinucci will deliver presentations on March 2 on ``Using Checklists to Boost Service Sales & Profits'' and on ``Essential Electrical Checks.''
Booths cost $450 each for member suppliers, while non-members must pay an additional $100.

Tread rubber group selects officers
JOHNSTOWN, Ohio-The Tread Rubber and Tire Repair Materials Manufacturers' Group has elected Ramey Thompson of Associated Rubber Co. chairman of the association for 2002.
Other officers tapped for the TRMG board include: Jim Osborne of Oliver Rubber Co., vice chairman; Joe Kilcoyne of Bandamatic Systems Inc., secretary; and John Wingert of Associated Rubber, treasurer.
TRMG also welcomed Bridgestone/Firestone, Goodyear and Robbins L.L.C. as its newest members.
Groups to hold joint gathering
FAIRLAND, Ind.-The Indiana Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association and the Illinois State Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association once again will have a joint convention and trade show, to be held Feb. 7-9 at the Wyndham Hotel in Lisle, Ill.
The gathering will feature a seminar on estate planning under the new tax law and a panel discussion on ``How has Sept. 11th affected your business insurance cost-now and in the future-and outlook.''
