EDMONTON, Alberta-Fountain Tire has promoted Brent Hesje to president, giving the 39-year-old responsibility for the day-to-day management of the firm.
The appointment will allow Chairman and CEO Brian Hesje-Brent's uncle-to focus on strategic issues and growth opportunities for the 139-outlet dealership, the company said.
Brent Hesje joined Fountain Tire in 1992 after eight years in sales and marketing with Procter & Gamble, and most recently was vice president for marketing.
``In addition to the day-to-day management of the company, I plan to focus on ways of becoming a stronger learning organization,'' Brent Hesje said. ``By enhancing the skill base of our team, we will be better equipped to handle the ever-changing requirements of our customers.''
In his nine years as president of Fountain Tire, Brian Hesje helped direct dealership growth to 139 stores from 27.
Fountain Tire operates 115 company stores throughout Canada-76 of which are 50-50 partnerships with the local managers-and franchises another 24 locations. Sales in fiscal 2000 were $159 million. Goodyear owns 49 percent of Fountain Tire.
