AKRON (Dec. 10, 2001)—Goodyear North American Tire will raise prices up to 5 percent on Goodyear, Dunlop and Kelly brand passenger and light truck tires and by 3 percent on Goodyear-brand medium truck tires. In addition, the tire maker is hiking prices up to 5 percent on Dunlop, Dunlop, Kelly and Steelmark brand commercial truck tires. The price changes take effect Jan. 1, 2002.
The company cited continuing increases in labor expenses and benefit costs for the decision. Goodyear last raised prices in June. Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire L.L.C. also recently said it would hike prices, beginning Feb. 1.
