WAYNE, N.J. (Nov. 29, 2001)—In a move to better serve its tire dealer customers, Hankook Tire America Corp. has replaced its distribution center in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., with a new facility that's three times larger.
The 220,000 -sq.-ft. leased building is located near the company's former warehouse, which contained 76,000 square feet, said Jack Kim, Hankook general manager.
Hankook's new Western Regional Distribution Center will enable the company to broaden its service and supply capability to dealers across the U.S., Mr. Kim said. This includes providing just-in-time delivery, better fill rates and better inventory control. In addition, Hankook said the new warehouse will reduce lead time in processing orders.
Besides Rancho Cucamonga, Hankook operates five other U.S. distribution centers located in Napa, Calif., Portland, Ore., Kansas City, Kan., Atlanta, Ga., and Edison, N.J. In addition, the tire maker maintains a warehouse in Detroit for supplying temporary spares to the Ford Focus.
