HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2001)— Heafner Tire Group Inc. has announced the planned retirement at the end of this year of Artie Shields, vice president of Heafner Worldwide, and Nelson Beam, director of tire sales.
The two company execs are 30- and 35-year tire-industry veterans respectively. Mr. Shields, a former vice president of sales for Heafner's Regul private brand, will be replaced as vice president of Heafner Worldwide by Lee Fishkin, now director of worldwide operations.
One of North America's largest independent wholesalers of tires and related products, Heafner operates four distribution divisions serving 35 states.
The Huntersville-based company reported revenues in excess of $1 billion during 2000. It includes the combined wholesale operations of the former J.H. Heafner Co., ITCO Tire Co., The Speed Merchant Inc., T.O. Haas Tire Co., American Tire Distributors and California Tire Co.
