FULLERTON, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2001)—Yokohama Rubber Co. in Japan, its U.S. subsidiary, Yokohama Tire Corp. and employees of the U.S. unit are donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross Relief Fund following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
“We support the efforts of those who work to rescue victims, heal survivors and lead our world back to peace,” the companies said in a statement.
In addition, Yokohama–sponsored racers of Team PTG BMW will be sporting a new look for Petit LeMans-ALMS in October. All three BMW race cars have been repainted red, white and blue to honor the victims, their families and those who have participated in the recovery effort.
"We hope this company-wide effort will help us all participate in the healing and recovery process facing our nation," said Mr. Koji Ikawa, president of Yokohama Tire. "The unified efforts of corporations throughout our country will continue to help us move toward the future with a renewed sense of strength and hope."
Yokohama employs more than 1,300 in the U.S. and maintains U.S. manufacturing capabilities and distribution centers throughout the country, servicing a network of 4,200 points of sale nationwide.
