QUINCY, Ill. (Sept. 24, 2001) — Titan Wheel Corp. of Illinois, a subsidiary of Titan International Inc., received confirmation that it has snared the largest military contract negotiated in the company's history.
The U.S. Army has granted Titan a multi-year contract for two-piece, bolt-together wheels, Titan said. The contract's value — for new and replacement wheels — could exceed $45 million.
Titan's bolt-together wheels are the only wheels approved by the U.S. government for replacement on military trucks, according to the Quincy-based company. Tital also is the current wheel supplier to original equipment manufacturers that produce the new military vehicles.
Titan is a global supplier of mounted wheel and tire systems for off-highway equipment used in agriculture, earthmoving/construction and consumer applications.
