RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada (Sept. 13, 2001)— SmarTire Systems Inc. has launched the distribution of new aftermarket products in the U.S. through two large tire retailers.
The Tire Rack and TBC Corp.'s Big O Tires Inc. subsidiary have agreed to carry the SmarTire's new tire-monitoring aftermarket products for cars and light trucks.
The move follows SmarTire's initial distribution in Europe and represents the beginning of the company's marketing strategy for aftermarket products in North America, SmarTire President and CEO Robert Rudman said. Since 1987, SmarTire has developed tire monitoring technology for all sectors of the automotive and transportation industries.
“The launch of our aftermarket products in North America with these exceptional distributors and retailers will ensure that SmarTire products gain strong brand recognition and acceptance,” Mr. Rudman added. “We look forward to building existing and new distribution relationships going forward.”
Tire Rack is an Indianapolis-based mail-order distributor of high-performance tires and wheels. Colorado-based Big O, one of the nation's largest operators of retail tire and auto stores, has more than 490 franchised and company-owned retail outlets in western, mid-western and southeastern states, as well as an affiliated dealer network in Canada.
