HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Aug. 31, 2001) — Sears, Roebuck and Co. has begun offering consumers free tire safety checks at its more than 800 Sears Auto Centers in the U.S.
Sears said its technicians will check and adjust tire air pressure if necessary while showing consumers how to determine the manufacturer's recommended pressure for their vehicles.
If signs of dangerous tire wear are present, the technicans also will point that out and explain how adjustments in vehicle alignment can prolong tire life, the company said.
Bill White, president of Sears Automotive Group, said most people don´t think twice about their tires after they purchase them.
"We´re focused on fast, expert service, so customers can expect to be in and out very quickly," Mr. White said.
