JACKSON, Miss. (Aug. 20, 2001)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has been dropped as a defendant in a personal injury case in Mississippi, the Associated Press has reported.
Hinds County Circuit Judge James Graves Jr. dismissed the Nashville, Tenn.-based tire manufacturer from the suit because it had settled its part of the case brought by Brenda Mayo of Biloxi. Ms. Mayo was partly paralyzed in a Ford Explorer rollover accident in Florida, in which a Firestone tire on the vehicle failed.
Paul S. Minor, the Biloxi attorney representing Ms. Mayo, could not be reached for comment, and a Bridgestone/Firestone spokeswoman said she had no information on the case.
