GREENVILLE, S.C. (Aug. 17, 2001) – Michelin North America said it has seen a 200-percent increase in customer demand for its Cross Terrain sport-utility vehicle tire in light of public concern over tire safety.
The Cross Terrain, designed specifically for SUVs, according to the company, is one of the tires officially authorized by Ford Motor Co. as a replacement for the 13 million Firestone Wildnerness ATs the auto maker is replacing under its Customer Satisfaction Program.
Consumers affected by the Ford replacement program can visit a Ford auto dealership or a participating Michelin outlet to receive a set of Cross Terrain replacements without charge, Michelin said.
“We've seen a tremendous response to the Cross Terrain,” said Michelin Brand Manager David Jones. “Consumers understand that SUVs are unique vehicles, with demanding tire requirements. The Michelin Cross Terrain delivers the performance drivers need, with the aggressive styling and car-like ride they want.”
