FORT SMITH, Ark. (Aug. 16, 2001)—Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems L.L.C. has hired Gary McNally as special projects manager in areas encompassing operations, sales and marketing.
Mr. McNally, a 25-year veteran of the tire industry, served from 1999-2000 as vice president and general manager for the eastern division of Tire Distribution Systems, a subsidiary of Bandag Inc. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of operations for Columbia, Miss.-based Southern Tire Mart from 1991-´99 and the owner of Memphis Bandag Inc. from 1987-´91. Southern Tire Mart was one of five independent tire dealerships purchased by Bandag in 1997 and merged to form the TDS unit, which offers tire outsourcing service to trucking fleets.
Wingfoot Chairman and CEO John R. Meyers said Mr. McNally´s industry- and customer-knowledge will "contribute to the continued development of Wingfoot´s major markets." Mr. McNally will report directly to Wingfoot´s division vice presidents, Mr. Meyers said.
The largest commercial tire sales and service operation in the U.S., with 187 locations in 36 states, Wingfoot was created in 2000 by combining the commercial tire distribution and retreading assets of Goodyear and Fort Smith-based Treadco Inc. Goodyear owns the majority interest in the joint-venture company.
