WASHINGTON-Volvo Car Corp. and its parent firm, Ford Motor Co., recently unveiled the Volvo Safety Concept Car during a press-only event at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington.
The company said the Volvo SCC is designed to enhance all-round driver visibility. It includes a radar unit alerting drivers to vehicles in the offset rear ``blind spot,'' and introduces four-point safety belts and electrically adjustable seat cushions for children in the rear seats.
The SCC is shod with Michelin tires, but significant advancements in tire systems or tire pressure sensors will have to wait until another version of the prototype vehicle is created, according to a Ford spokesman.
