WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 8, 2001)—Tire Kingdom is offering a new associate dealer program aimed at allowing participating retailers to maintain their independent status while enjoying the economies of scale and other advantages of being part of Tire Kingdom's operation.
Mike Cox, named to head the West Palm Beach-based chain's new division, said Tire Kingdom's associate dealer program offers the independent tire retailer the chance to do it the way the “big boys” do.
He said the company's associate dealers enjoy the same supplier discounts previously available only to big volume purchasers. Participants also will receive advertising support and a Tire Kingdom credit card offering customers 90-day, same-as-cash options.
A major plus of the new program, he said, will be the availability of a lower-priced entry-level tire that has, for years, allowed the majors to advertise customer-enticing values that most independent dealerships could not.
“We believe that the media negotiations and credit terms of 90-days-same-as-cash sets this program apart from all others, ” Mr. Cox said in a news release.
Tire Kingdom, owned by Memphis, Tenn.-based TBC Corp., has 170 stores throughout the Southeast and more than 1,600 employees.
