    NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Retreaders from areas outside of the continental U.S. walked off with most of the top awards in the retread appearance contest, sponsored by the International Tire & Rubber Association as part of its 44th World Tire Expo in Nashville, April 19-23.

    Firms with entries judged ``Best of Show'' included:

    Rechapage S.P., Montreal, Quebec (``truck traction,'' bead-to-bead mold cure division);

    Recauchutagem 31, Alcobaca, Portugal (``truck traction,'' bead-to-bead mold cure division);

    Hardinsburg Tire, Hardinsburg, Ky. (``truck traction,'' pre-cure division); and

    Neumatec SRL, Santa Cruz, Bolivia (``light truck traction,'' bead-to-bead mold cure division).

    Those awarded blue ribbons symbolizing excellence in their respective categories included:

    Neumatec SRL, Santa Cruz, Bolivia (``passenger performance,'' for 65-series and under);

    Industrias Del Neumatico, Aspe, Spain (``passenger, highway, all-season'');

    Recauchutagem 31, Alcobaca, Portugal (``light truck, highway all-season'');

    Goodyear Aviation Products, Forest Park, Ga. (``specialty,'' aircraft);

    Rechapage S.P., Montreal, Quebec (``truck highway,'' mold cure division);

    Industrias Del Neumatico, Aspe, Spain (``light truck, highway and all-season''); and

    Wingfoot, Portland, Ore. (``truck, highway,'' precure division).
