PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (May 3, 2001)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. and the Tire Retread Information Bureau will distribute more than 100,000 tire inflation brochures at Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Roadcheck stations throughout north America in June.

The four-page brochure titled, “What are the HIGH COSTS of low air pressure?,” is entirely non-commercial and originally appeared in Bridgestone's tire topic magazine, Real Answers.

Brochures will be distributed by highway patrol officers at weight stations in all 50 states and U.S. territories, and all Canadian provinces and territories, as part of CVSA's program to heighten truckers' awareness of the importance of maintaining proper air pressure.

“We are very excited about this program. It is the largest single promotion TRIB has ever participated in, and the thought of having over 100,000 brochures distributed to truckers should prove beneficial to the retread industry, especially since the back page of the brochure is entirely dedicated to retreading,” said Harvey Brodsky, Managing Director of TRIB.

“Since the cost of printing and shipping over 100 cartons of the brochures would have been a budget buster for TRIB, we are really grateful to Bridgestone/Firestone for stepping up to the plate and agreeing to pick up much of the cost of this enormous project,” Mr. Brodsky added.

The CVSA, formed in 1982 to develop and implement uniform international truck and bus roadside inspection standards and the uniform application of those standards and inspection procedures, includes all U.S. states and territories, Canadian provinces and territories, Mexico.
