WASHINGTON (May 2, 2001)- – Bridgestone Corp. and its subsidiaries, including Bridgestone/Firestone Inc., was named as General Motors Supplier of the Year for the sixth consecutive year. The award, given for superior performance in quality, service, technology and price, was presented April 28 in the nation's capital.
Bo Andersson, executive in charge, GM Worldwide Purchasing, said: “Bridgestone, Bridgestone/Firestone U.S. and the other members of the Bridgestone Group represents the best of the best and they have set an example during the past year for other companies to follow.
“It is a role model and it is an honor to work with a company so committed to supporting our priorities for quality, launch and a balance between current and future business,” he said.
The award began as a global program in 1992. This year, the auto maker honored 165 suppliers from 19 countries.
