AKRON (April 13, 2001)—Goodyear has awarded its $60 million North American advertising account to Omnicom Group´s Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, an advertising agency based in San Francisco, AdAge.com reported.
The new agency replaces J.Walter Thompson Co. in Detroit, which had held the account for 15 years.
Goodyear had put its advertising business up for grabs earlier this year and was reviewing six ad agencies.
In February, J. Walter Thompson cut its ties with the tire maker by declining to participate in the review.
Besides Goodby, Silverstein, other finialists in the review were GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and two New York-based agencies: BBDO Worldwide and McCann-Erickson Worldwide.
