Jeffrey Duncan, a high-ranking government official with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, deserves kudos for his efforts to partner with the off-the-road tire industry in developing safety standards.
Speaking at the recent Tire Association of North America's Off-the-Road Tire Conference, Mr. Duncan correctly noted that developing and following sound training and safety procedures when working with tires on mine sites is in everyone's best interest.
He also was right when he said his organization can't match the industry's expertise.
Together, MSHA and the OTR industry can reduce fatalities and injuries more effectively than working individually.
