WASHINGTON—The Scrap Tire Management Council will co-sponsor the third Midwest Regional Scrap Tire Conference, June 5-6 at the West Market Conference Center in Indianapolis.
The meeting—which also is co-sponsored by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Indiana Department of Commerce—will include sessions on tire-derived fuel, civil engineering applications and ground rubber used to manufacture new products. Like previous meetings, the conference will focus on the markets and issues affecting scrap tires in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Additionally, there will be presentations on developing a business plan, potential financing sources, transportation issues and a panel discussion of state regulations and potential legislation in the seven-state region. A one-day technical seminar on the use of scrap tires in civil engineering applications will be presented by Dana Humphrey, chairman of the department of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Maine.
