AAA opens its first auto repair shop
SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The AAA (American Automobile Association) has entered the auto repair business.
According to Automotive News, in March the organization opened AAA Car Care Plus, a seven-day-a-week repair center in Sacramento.
It offers services such as engine repair; scheduled maintenance; diagnostic inspections; pre-purchase evaluations; smog check/certification; brake, cooling system and air conditioning repair; wheel alignment, balance and tire rotation; quick oil change; and auto detailing.
All work is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles.
The AAA center also has a cafe, free Internet access for customers, and a children's play area.
The International Automotive Technicians' Network has hit a 30,000-active-member milestone.
Launched in 1995, the network is an organization of automotive technicians, repair shop owners and other auto service professionals who use the Internet to discuss issues and problems. To join, techs must have four years of full-time experience or ASE certification. Membership is free. The Web site is www.iatn.net.
