AKRON (April 3, 2001) — Goodyear has selected the head of marketing for the Rubbermaid Home Products business as its chief marketing officer, responsible for the firm´s global marketing a brand management efforts. Cathryn M. Fischer, 39, will be vice president and chief marketing officer, reporting to Robert J. Keegan, president and chief operating officer.
"Cathy has an exceptional background in consumer product marketing and has successfully managed some of the world´s most-famous brands in highly competitive markets including Crest, Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Rubbermaid," Mr. Keegan said in a prepared statement.
Ms. Fischer joined Rubbermaid in 1997 and continued to now under the merged Newell-Rubbermaid Inc. Prior to joining Rubbermaid, she spent 14 years with Proctor & Gamble Co.
"Goodyear´s strengths — its strong brand names and its technological and manufacturing expertise — are very attractive assets from a marketing perspective," Ms. Fischer said. "We intend to capitalize on these to create additional brand equity, top-line growth and enhanced shareholder value."
