Ten lucky retailers won cash prize drawings at Target Tire Inc.'s January dealer meeting, which featured a keynote speech from former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight.
The Jacksonville, N.C.-based distributor held its annual dealer meeting Jan. 19-20 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Greenville, S.C. More than 650 retailers and about 20 exhibitors attended the gathering, according to Herman Horne, marketing manager of Target Tire.
The weekend featured a sell-a-thon where Target Tire offered attendees special deals on tires. The company sold 106,000 tires in less than two hours, Mr. Horne said. Dealers also received tickets on their purchases good toward a drawing for cash prizes totaling more than $30,000. The firm also unveiled a dealer trip to Paris for 2002.
Len Lewin, president and COO of American Car Care Centers, and Dave Clark, director of sales at Michelin North America Inc., addressed dealers aligned with ACCC and Michelin Americas Small Tires' Alliance program.
But the highlight of the meeting, according to Mr. Horne, was Mr. Knight's presentation to all attendees on Saturday morning. Following his address on the importance of team work, Mr. Knight signed autographs and helped Target Tire executives draw for prizes.
Target Tire posts more than $100 million in annual sales.
