Texas dealers plan April expo
AUSTIN, Texas—The Texas Tire Dealers Association will hold its annual convention and tire expo April 26-28 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Irving, Texas.
The convention will kick off with a golf tournament April 26 at Bridlewood Golf Club and a pre-convention party that evening.
The meeting will feature workshops on the following topics: "How to maximize the value of your business and cash out on your terms"; "My tire business an asset? Or how to get the kids in the tire business and save taxes"; and "Tire Vibrations."

ASA launches Internet program
BEDFORD, Texas—The Automotive Service Association has introduced a new member benefit to increase the Internet visibility of existing and prospective customers.
The benefit is a Web browser called AutoRocket.com—a subscription-based service that provides site builders, automated service reminders and management tools for participating shops.
Every ASA national member is eligible for the program. Participants will receive a 50-percent discount on the one-time setup fee of $199 and save 30 percent on the $99 monthly maintenance fee.

Lampe to keynote N.E. convention
ELIOT, Maine—John Lampe, Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. chairman, president and CEO, will give the keynote address at the New England Tire & Service Association's trade show and convention.
NETSA's convention, April 20-22 at the Sheraton Hyannis Resort & Conference Center in Hyannis, Mass., will include a golf outing, annual meeting and seminars. Mr. Lampe is scheduled to speak at the meeting on April 21.

ITEC conference going to Asia
LONDON—Crain Communications UK Ltd. is producing its first International Tire Exhibition and Conference outside the U.S.
ITEC Asia 2001, Sept. 18-20 in Pusan, South Korea., aims to generate the largest gathering to date of automotive, tire and associated industries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Roger Williams, former technical director of Dunlop Tyres Ltd., will produce a program on the theme "Smarter Tyres for Intelligent Vehicles." It will provide presentations on the future of tire technology and its impact on the automotive, tire and associated industries.
Vehicle designers will share their vision for tire performance while other papers will examine inflation pressure warning systems and run-flat systems.
