CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Heafner Tire Group Inc.'s new President and CEO Dick Johnson has announced a restructuring of organizational responsibilities for the corporation.
Mr. Johnson, who became president and CEO of Charlotte-based Heafner in January, previously served as president of its Southeast division.
In a prepared statement, Mr. Johnson said that:
William E. Berry, previously senior vice president of finance for the Southeast division, was promoted to executive vice president-finance and administration for the corporation.
J. Michael Gaither will remain executive vice president and general counsel, but also will assume added responsibility for the company's treasury and external financial reporting functions.
Daniel K. Brown, previously senior vice president of sales and marketing, was temporarily re-assigned as interim president of Winston Tire Co. in Burbank, Calif. On completion of that assignment, he is to become senior vice president of procurement.
Phillip E. Marrett, previously senior vice president of sales and marketing for the company's Southeast division, was promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing for the corporation.
J. David Phillips, previously vice president of human resources, was named senior vice president of human resources/safety and training.
All five report directly to Mr. Johnson, as will the company's current division presidents, who include:
Jim Matthews, president, Heafner Tire Group-Northern division (formerly known as American Tire Distributors) in Manassas, Va.;
Randy Haas, president, Heafner Tire Group-Central division (formerly known as T.O. Haas Tire Co. in Lincoln, Neb.); and
Ray Barney, president, Heafner Tire Group-Western division (formerly known as Speed Merchants/Competition Parts Warehouse) in San Jose, Calif.
Heafner Tire Group, one of North America's largest independent marketers of tires and tire-related products, posted sales exceeding $1 billion in 2000. It serves customers in 35 states.
In addition to the above-mentioned subsidiaries, Heafner includes the operations of the former wholesaler Itco Tire Co. as well as some 240 retail outlets, primarily operating under the Winston Tire name, in California, Arizona, Nebraska, and Kansas.
