PHOENIX (Feb. 9,. 2001) — Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. unveiled two Bridgestone passenger tires to the trade press Feb. 7 in Phoenix during a ride-and-drive-style event.
The company said the new tires are an answer to what it called "overwhelming" demand from consumers for tires that work better in the rain.
The H-rated Potenza RE950, due in March, promises improved wet and dry handling throughout its tread life. It replaces the Potenza RE930.
The W/Y-rated Potenza S-03 Pole Position, due in May, is an ultra-performance product with a tread similar to the rainy-day version of Bridgestone´s Formula One race tire. It replaces the Potenza S-02 Pole Position.
Both tires have longer treadlife warranties, come in a wide range of sizes and are an evolution of BFS´ Uni-T AQII technology. BFS said the tires will be marketed via a national campaign with extensive television advertising and at major sporting events throughout the year until November.
