MILAN (Jan. 15, 2001) — Pirelli S.p.A.´s U.S. subsidiary Pirelli Tires L.L.C. is working with local authorities in Georgia and North Carolina to find a site for a new head office and technical center, a Pirelli spokesman has confirmed.
Rome, Ga., is the most likely location for a $140 million Pirelli facility, which would employ more than 300, according to a Jan. 2 report in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. While confirming the report, the Pirelli spokesman said no decision had been taken about the project.
Pirelli recently announced it was set to reveal a location for the first U.S. facility to employ its newly launched MIRS tire production system. The spokesman would not indicate if its search for a new site was linked to this project.
