Tech center work finished
TOKYO—Bridgestone Corp. has completed work on a $65 million addition to its Tokyo technical center, where technicians began work early last November.
The company cited the 366,000-sq.-ft. center's growing role in developing tires and other products for worldwide markets.
The addition is part of a year-long series of events to mark Bridgestone's 70th anniversary in March 2001.

Conti has invested nearly $60 million in the plant so far, with $35 million more projected through year-end 2002, when daily capacity should exceed 22,000 units, Continental said.
The plant is based on Conti's Modular Manufacturing Process, which involves adding the belt/tread package to green tire casings made in other Conti factories and shipped to Timisoara.
