NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2000)— Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has joined the growing list of manufacturers hiking tire prices to the replacement market.
BFS, in a Dec. 1 announcement, said it will raise prices on passenger and light truck tires effective Jan. 1.
The Nashville-based tire company did not disclose further details, but said dealers will be furnished with information on specific rates of increase for each product line.
Previously, tire makers Goodyear, Michelin North America, and Cooper Tire & Rubber announced similar increases effective Dec. 1. Continental General Tire said it expects to increase prices Jan. 1.
All have cited a need to recover the increased cost of petroleum-based production materials.
