NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 22, 2000) — Tetsuo Ando, who has been chief financial officer, executive vice president and treasurer of Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. since 1993, has retired, effective Nov. 17.
The tire maker named as his replacement, effective immediately, Akira Nozawa, whose most recent position was treasurer with Bridgestone Corp., BFS´ parent company.
Mr. Nozawa, 51, joined Tokyo-based Bridgestone in 1973 and served in various domestic and international positions in the accounting, finance and treasury areas before becoming treasurer in 1997.
Mr. Ando, 59, began his career with Bridgestone Corp.´s Budget Control Department in 1964. He rose through the ranks, eventually joining BFS as treasurer in 1990 when the unit was still based in Akron. He moved to Nashville in 1992 as vice president finance and treasurer.
Commenting on the changes in the executive ranks, John T. Lampe, CEO, president and chairman of Nashville-based BFS, thanked Mr. Ando, then said the company was pleased to have Mr. Nozawa joining it "during this very important and challenging time.
"He brings to BFS a solid financial background, and we are all looking forward to his leadership in this critical area."
