ATLANTA—Reuben "Ken" Exum Sr., 64, founder of Atlanta General Tires Inc., died on Oct. 15 in his McDonough, Ga., home.
Mr. Exum founded Atlanta General in 1968. The company, which had eight locations at one time, now has three stores in the Atlanta area. He remained active as president of the dealership until the last couple of months of his life.
He was formerly president of both the Georgia Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association and the Metropolitan Atlanta Tire Dealers Association.
Mr. Exum also was an avid bass fisherman who developed "Bennie's Magic Worms," an artificial bait for bass fishing which he sold by mail order and through bait and tackle shops. The product was named after his wife, Bennie, who survives him.
Other survivors include a son, a daughter and two stepdaughters.
