AKRON (Nov. 15, 2000)—Goodyear has named Armond Boyes general manager of its North American retreading operations.
Mr. Boyes, a 36-year retreading industry veteran, will oversee Goodyear´s Next-Tred retreading program, including its product design, development and sales operations and the installation of retread plants throughout the continent.
He replaces JB Jaboor, who was named director of original equipment tires for commercial accounts.
Rick Howell, marketing director of Goodyear´s commercial systems, called Mr. Boyes´ industry experience "invaluable as we continue to expand the Next-Tred network."
Goodyear currently has 167 medium truck tire retreading plants plus an additional five off-the-road retreading facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to his appointment Nov. 13, Mr. Boyes was manager of retread engineering and Q-tech support for Goodyear´s North American operations, responsible for the design and implementation of all retreading equipment and supervised Next-Tred´s field quality/technical staff.
He began his retreading career in 1964 working for a company that designed retread molds and in subsequent years held a variety of positions before joining Goodyear in 1989.
