Calif. dealer associations change names
GRANADA HILLS, Calif.—The Western States Tire & Automotive Service Association and the Southern California Tire, Automotive & Retread Services Association, which serve northern and southern California tire dealers, respectively, are undergoing name changes.
By Jan. 1, the WSTASA will be known as the California Tire Dealers Association—North, while the SCTARSA name will change to the California Tire Dealers Association—South. The official names have been registered with the state, and membership approval is now a "formality," according to WSTASA Executive Director Ejnar Fink-Jensen.
Mr. Fink-Jensen noted that the two groups will retain their separate identities but will cooperate more on issues of training and establishing a Web site that lists all members of both associations.
The WSTASA's membership has been open to Nevada tire dealers since 1995, but the group never netted as many Nevada members as it had hoped for, Mr. Fink-Jensen said.
The association primarily represents dealers from the northern tip of California to Bakersfield.
