LAS VEGAS (Nov. 1, 2000) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) plans to significantly expand its consumer education campaign on tire care and is counting on tire dealers playing a significant role.
Speaking at a press conference during the Specialty Market Equipment Association (SEMA) Show/International Tire Expo in Las Vegas, RMA President and CEO Donald B. Shea said the new campaign — to be officially launched Nov. 15 in Washington, D.C. — "will be an aggressive and well-funded effort to give drivers the tire care and maintenance information they need and want."
Mr. Shea said new research by the RMA indicates that motorists want to be reminded of the responsibility to care for their tires and to receive information on how to carry out that care.
Tire dealers will play an important role in helping to communicate that information, he added. "Our country´s tire dealers are on the front line of driving safety. We look forward to partnering with them in our safety campaign."
