CLERMONT FERRAND, France (Oct. 26, 2000) — Michelin North America Inc. will raise prices on replacement market car and light truck tires between 3 and 8 percent, depending on brand, on Jan. 1, 2001, and by 3.75 percent for replacement market truck tires on Dec. 1, according to Group Michelin.
The company also is raising prices of original equipment car and light truck tires an average of 4 percent worldwide.
Michelin said the price increases are necessary to offset rising prices for raw materials, particularly for oil-derived products.
The company is raising prices in Europe, South America and Africa/Middle East as well.
