BALTIMORE (Oct. 10, 2000)—Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers added six new stores in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan areas during the past year, bringing its total number of outlets to 40.
The dealership, which belongs to the Tire Alliance Groupe and Del-Nat marketing cooperatives, plans to open three to four locations by spring of 2001, also in the Baltimore/Washington area, according to Joseph Tomarchio Jr., executive vice president.
The company especially is looking to expand aggressively in Washington since it already has a strong presence in Baltimore, he said. "We´re not a major player in (the Washington) market at this point in time." Mr. Tomarchio said. "The two markets are becoming one. We have seven stores over there, and that´s an area that once we get finished with Baltimore, we´re going to focus on pretty intensely."
Mr. Tomarchio said he also wants to expand into southern Pennsylvania, but hasn´t found the right location to open a Mr. Tire outlet.
Ninety-five percent of Mr. Tire´s business is retail, with tire sales making up 55 percent of total sales.
