SEATTLE (Sept. 27, 2000)—Internet firm iCa-rumba.com, a Web portal that links automotive repair shops with customers, has launched a new member program and unveiled an advertising plan to help draw customers to member shops.
The firm will provide its member shops a free Web site—called INSITE—and hosting package that includes automotive content, instant online scheduling and access to iCarumba´s consumer base.
iCarumba also said that it has signed agreements with popular online portals and service providers used by more than 40 million consumers monthly. The $8.5 million advertising plan will incorporate a combination of banner ads sponsorships, direct e-mail marketing and sweepstakes promotions. The program will bein in the fourth quarter.
The portal also will receive "prime content placement" as the exclusive online auto service provider in the automotive modules of several major portal sites, iCarumba said.
