NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2000) —For the fifth year in a row, Bridgestone Corp. has been named a General Motors Corp. "Supplier of the Year."
Only 181 suppliers from 22 nations received the auto maker´s award, which recognizes superior performance during 1999. It is the seventh time the tire maker has received the recognition since GM began the program in 1992.
"Bridgestone is one of our best and brightest suppliers," said Harold Kutner, GM group vice president, Worldwide Purchasing and North American Production Control and Logistics.
Bridgestone supplies Bridgestone and Firestone tires to GM plants worldwide including, in the U.S., GM´s Saturn Corp. subsidiary and the GM/Toyota Motor North America joint venture known as New United Motors Manufacturing Inc.
