NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 15, 2000)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. will reimburse all motorists who paid prorated fees on replacements for Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness tires between Jan. 1 and Aug. 8, 2000.
Also, Bridgestone/Firestone will reimburse customers up to $100 for competitors´ tires purchased to replace the Firestone tires during that period, including mounting and balancing charges and taxes, according to an Aug. 15 press release from the company.
"We hope to quickly reimburse customers for costs they may have incurred replacing tires that now have been recalled," said John Lampe, Bridgestone/Firestone executive vice president, in the release.
Bridgestone/Firestone has given details of the policy on its website (www.bridgestone-firestone.com) and in a newspaper ad which ran in more than 40 major U.S. newspapers Aug. 16.
