AKRON—In the wake of Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.'s recall of 6.5 million tires, Michelin North America Inc. and Goodyear said they plan to increase production to meet expected demand.
A Goodyear spokesman said the firm is making plans for some of its plants to increase production of the P235/75R15 size BFS is recalling.
Michelin said it also has ramped up production of that size "within acceptable limits" at approximately five of its tire plants in the U.S. and Canada. A spokesman declined to reveal what factories were boosting capacity or how many more tires Michelin will manufacture.
