Should sales taxes be levied on Internet and mail order purchases, such as tires and wheels?
This is a no brainer! No one segment of the sales/distribution channel should have an unfair competitive advantage over the other. Each channel should be treated fairly and equitably.

Only if the selling party and buying party are in the same state. Then, and only then, should sales tax apply.

All sales made—whether on the Internet, catalog etc.—should be treated like any other retail sale.
Retailers invest in "brick and mortar," personnel, inventory, all taxes (local, federal etc.). So why should the traditional retailer be treated like a second-class citizen? Everyone should charge and pay all pertinent taxes.
Until every business charges and pays these taxes, the traditional retailer is not playing on a level playing field.
