ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill.—The Firestone MasterCareUSA.com Internet site now is linked to Microsoft Corp.'s Carpoint.com site, Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has announced. Carpoint, one of the leading automotive sites on the Internet, attracts more than 1.9 million visitors per month, the tire company said. BFS hopes to exploit the Carpoint connection to attract increased visitor traffic at its MasterCareUSA site and thereby direct potential customers to nearby Firestone tire and service outlets.
Larry Magee, president of the company's Rolling Meadows-based retail division, said Carpoint tracks the recommended maintenance schedules of visitors' vehicles and reminds them by e-mail when it's time to schedule services such as tire rotations, oil changes and engine work.
Internet users using the "hot link" found on the Carpoint site to reach MasterCareUSA.com are given the location of Firestone outlets within their geographic area. "It's just another way to make car care easier for everyone," Mr. Magee said.
Visitors to the MasterCareUSA site also may use their computers to print a coupon redeemable for a free vehicle inspection at any of the more than 1,400 Firestone Tire & Service Centers in the U.S., the company said.
