Texas TDA elects Montalbano pres HOUSTON—The Texas Tire Dealers Association elected Tony Montalbano, owner of Montalbano Tire Co. in Houston, as president for the 2000-2001 term during its annual convention, April 27-29 in Houston.
Other new officers include: Bill Sodolak of Riverside Tire Center in Sealy, president-elect; David Beasley of Beasley Tire Service in Humble, vice president; and Tom Ceniglis of Tom's Tire World in San Angelo, treasurer.
As the International Tire and Rubber Association did at its World ITRA Expo, the TTDA held a mock trial during its convention.
Executive Director Chuck Space said the TTDA re-enacted an actual trial involving a commercial dealership sued by a truck driver seriously injured from a tire that exploded.
Tenn./Ky dealers select officers
LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Tennessee/Kentucky Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association elected new officers and directors during its April 13-16 convention at the Campbell House in Lexington.
The following are the group's new oficers for 2000-2001: Mike Clark of Kentucky Tire Exchange in Bowling Green, Ky., president; Don Hyman of Hyman Tire Service in Bolivar, Tenn., president-elect; Sam Snead of Sam Snead Tire & Recap in Bristol, Tenn., first vice president; Mike Hollingsworth of Hollingsworth Tire & Fuel in Springfield, Tenn., second vice president; Brooks Harris of S & S Tire Inc. in Nashville, Tenn., treasurer; and Larry Garland of Garland Tire in Erwin, Tenn., secretary.
Majors tapped as president of AITDA
HOT SPRINGS, Ark.—The Arkansas Independent Tire Dealers Association elected Tommy Majors of Olmstead Trade Center in Jacksonville, Ark., president during its annual trade show and convention held March 22-24.
The group's trade show at the Hot Springs Convention Center featured a three-ring circus and golf. Clowns and magicians entertained on the show floor. A record-setting 62 independent dealerships were represented at the show, Executive Director Nelson Drummond said.
Other officers elected during the convention included: Freddy Worley of Worley's Tire in Berryville, first vice president; Hugh Austin of Austin Brothers Tire in Little Rock, second vice president; Ron Blackburn of Jonesboro, treasurer; and Jim Looney of Looney's Tire Inc. in Little Rock, advisor.
