PORT CLINTON, Ohio (June 8, 2000) — Got an award-worthy advertising or marketing program aimed at female motorists? If so, members of the Women´s Board of the Car Care Council (CCC) are looking for you.
They want you to enter that advertising or marketing program in the second annual "Women´s Automotive Communications Awards (WACA)" competition, which will recognize those companies that effectively promote the value of automotive maintenance and service to female vehicle users.
Awards will be presented at an Oct. 31 reception in Las Vegas, during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week.
"Variety is part of what makes these awards so interesting," said Donna Wagner, director of the Women´s Board, a professional organization of the Port Clinton-based CCC dedicated to educating women about automotive care and careers.
"We allow everything from print to TV to Internet to special promotions to PR efforts," Ms. Wagner said. "The bottom line is this: If your business is marketing to women, we want your effort represented at this event."
Examples of former award winners include CarCare for the Clueless, a handout designed to help non-technical women understand the inner workings of their vehicles. Another example is a radio commercial featuring a mom who shops for bargains — ``but not when it comes to auto safety."
Competition is open to any client, ad agency or industry supplier who has produced automotive advertising or communications targeted at women. New to the competition this year are categories for business-to-business marketing, the CCC said.
Material entered must have been produced or mailed between July 1, 1999 and June 30, 2000. The deadline for entering the competition is Sept. 15.
More information as well as entry forms can be obtained on the CCC´s Web site at www.carcarecouncil.org/waca.htm or by phoning the organization at (800) 466-5343.
